Abstract
"Incidence rates on uterine cancers are usually presented for the total female population, although only women with a uterus are at risk. Comparisons of time trends and regional variation may be biased by varying hysterectomy prevalence. This study measured hysterectomy prevalence by telephone surveys for four European regions and derived correction factors for the female populations at risk for women aged 45-64 years.
Comparisons of time trends and regional variation should only be made after adjusting denominators for women at risk for uterine cancers."
